First Year

Even though the plants were planted as tiny plugs, within a matter of months they flowered strongly.

Once the bees & butterfly’s had had their fill of the nectar it was our turn & the harvest began.

Rich Pickings

It was amazing to see how much we were able to harvest in the first year from such small begginings.

Everyone has their role

Harvesting

We acquired a set of Japaneses sickles for the harvest with a serrated cutting edge. Easy to use but needing great care not to cut yourself!

Watching

Rumple enjoyed the whole thing. Chasing any visiting dogs, laying in the sun and demanding attention when there were more important things to do.

Bunching

With the harvest cut, the next step was to gather bunches of equal size to be tied together and the hung up to dry in the barn.
